For Fans Of: Tool, Pelican, Russian Circles, Instrumental Rock
These guys are just brilliant. When I think of what (instrumental) post-rock should be, I think of If These Trees Could Talk. Hailing from (my hometown) of Akron, Ohio, these guys have been kicking ass since 2006. They carve the niche of the dedicated rock listeners and feed them a full course meal of magnificent sounds. The whole album is completely fulfilling and tickles every part of that metal/prog/post rock itch.
There’s moments that feel straight off of a Tool record, yet moments that sound like the soft Explosions in the Sky. There’s plenty of riffage and moments to groove and headbang to. I’ve loved every moment of this record and I highly recommend it.
There’s not much more to be said but if you want some ‘thinking man’s metal’ and be taken for a musical rollercoaster, check these guys out.
