PMM - The ReflectionPROFESSIONAL MURDER MUSIC is an industrial rock band from California whose most notable success came with the release of their self titled album in 2001. They released a follow up album (Looking Through) in 2003 and then an acoustic/cover album (De Profundis) in 2005. In 2010 they released a single called “Burn the Sun”. Their music has been used for such film soundtracks as End of Days, Ginger Snaps, Valentine, and (The Sega Dreamcast game) Jet Grind Radio.

In 2011 the band’s guitarist Tom Hatziemanouel suffered from severe nerve damage and a torn ligament in his wrist, and was having complications with the treatment. He was advised to give up music and playing guitar all together. But the band carried on and has been pretty quiet on the progress of new music until now. They have released a new single titled “The Reflection.” Here’s a statement the band released yesterday:

I know this is long overdue and there is a lot to digest, so here it goes…

To all of our friends and fans who have been waiting so patiently for some real news. We finally have something to tell you.

As many of you already know, we have been writing and recording new music over the past few years. What most of you may not know is that in the process, we have been facing an identity crisis. Much of the new music has taken us in a very different direction and presented us with the challenge of releasing these songs under the identity of “Professional Murder Music”. At the same time, we were also writing songs that could be nothing other than “Professional Murder Music”. We were trying to force a middle ground and water down both separate visions to make them fit as one. This inevitably led to frustration and disappointment. I am happy to say that we have finally reached a solution.

“Professional Murder Music” will live on to serve as an outlet for the darker, heavier sounds that we have created and will continue to create. Meanwhile, Roman and I would like to announce the birth of our new band “Spacetime”.

Please go to www.spacetimemusic.net (under construction) or www.facebook.com/spacetime.band for all info and updates regarding our new venture. We are currently planning to take Spacetime to the stage this fall. We are working on booking our debut show in the Los Angeles area. Once we have confirmed the show, we will announce all the details on the websites and social media pages of both bands. In the future, we will begin to run the 2 band’s affairs independently of each other.

Available NOW on iTunes is the new Professional Murder Music song, “The Reflection”, which is accompanied by a previously-unreleased remix of “Slow”. We have also re-released “Burn the Sun” under the Spacetime name, which will be followed by the release of an EP in the near future. The original PMM release of “Burn the Sun” will no longer be available for sale as of Sept. 2013.

I would like to stress again that we have finally worked through the circumstances and situations that were holding us back. As a result, more new music (and live performances) are on the horizon from both bands.

Thank you all again for your loyalty to us.

-Tom Hatziemanouel and Roman Marisak
