The Ambient Light is a  post-rock group hailing from San Gabriel Valley,California. Formed in 2012, the band has solidified a tour-de-force of instrumental rock that whisks away your conscious to a whole new level. The slogan of the band could not be more fitting:

The universe is asleep & we are providing the soundtrack for its lucid dream.

Although there’s been many post-rock groups that just seem to put noises together with a smattering of guitar and drums. The Ambient Light are no imitators. When listening to The Nostalgia Trip the structural foundations of the tracks lock you in to a secured experience. Each note is carefully placed along the sequence and there’s no dull or droning noise that would delay your aural satisfaction. In a way they’re creating music as an architect would, setting the solid foundation and  building upon that, adding sparks of interest here and there and forming subtle features that may go unnoticed at first glance, yet tie the whole thing together.

The album opens with the perfect intro track “Thanks for the lift…” which features that lonesome guitar play which is later joined with a crowd of acoustic guitars. Then right at the apex it kicks you off into “Twenty-Two” which kicks in the grunge effects and booming stomp of the drums that hammer it home.

Key tracks are”Twenty-Two,” “Ice Cavern Dream,” and “Catharsis”

The Ambient Light is Steven Martinez, Steve Lizarrogo, Irvin Venedero and Chris Alvarez.
